InterContinental's plans for Staybridge and Indigo hotels in UK take shape

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has revealed further details of the launch of its Staybridge and Indigo brands in the UK this year.

IHG will open the first of its planned 20 UK Staybridge Suites in Liverpool this June, following a deal with BDL Hotels Limited.

The first UK Staybridge will form part of the Kings Waterfront development and will comprise 132 one-bedroom and studio suites.

Staybridge is designed for business travellers who stay in hotels for weeks rather than days but has no minimum stay, unlike serviced apartments.

Its Hotel Indigo concept will also be launched in the UK as part of a £50 million investment, although the first site has yet to be revealed.

IHG opened its first Staybridge Suite in 1998 in Georgia, US. It now has 118 hotels worldwide with 143 new openings planned.

Indigo was launched in Atlanta US and there are currently nine across the US.
