Sodexo wins education contracts worth £7m
Caterer and facilities management company Sodexo has picked up new business in the education sector valued at £7m.
Sodexo has agreed a three-year deal to feed children at 73 primary schools and nine day nurseries in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, worth £6m in total turnover.
The deal, which has an option to extend by two years, was previously handled by in-house teams and by private caterer Signet.
Sodexo will employ 148 staff and serve about a million meals a year from seven production kitchens across the area using its Club Joules menu option, which makes use of a mix of offsite and onsite preparation of meals.
As part of the deal the company has undertaken to offer taster sessions to parents, teachers and pupils throughout its lifetime.
The caterer has also signed a five-year deal worth £1m in total turnover to provide onsite services to 1,500 students at sixth-form college Prior Pursglove in Guisborough, North Yorkshire.
Last August Sodexo took over catering in the London Borough of Richmond, which previous incumbent Compass had described as unviable.
