Second Vivat Bacchus site planned for capital
London fine dining restaurant Vivat Bacchus is to open a second site in the capital this summer, Caterersearch can reveal.
The restaurant, which opened in Farringdon in 2004 and specialises in new world wines that are served directly from its cellar, is set to launch a second site in London Bridge at the end of July.
The new Vivat Bacchus restaurant will be housed in a 320sq m outlet next to the Hay's Galleria leisure complex that forms part of London Bridge City. It will comprise a 100-seat restaurant with a wine cellar and an outdoor terrace for up to 40 diners.
The new restaurant will follow the same concept as the existing Vivat Bacchus and will offer an extensive wine list with a focus on South African wines. The menu will offer modern European food but a head chef and restaurant manager have not yet been appointed.
Vivat Bacchus managing director Gerrie Knoetze told Caterersearch the second restaurant could be the first of a wider London expansion.
"We would like to expand further but we're in no rush," he said. "It's not that easy to duplicate a restaurant format such as Vivat Bacchus, especially since there's such a big emphasis on South African wines."
Property agent Davis Coffer Lyons handled the deal.
