Stephen Wheeler quits Hilton to join the Belfry
Stephen Wheeler, executive chef at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate, has left the property less than a year after joining to become the new executive chef at the Belfry golf and spa resort in the Midlands.
Wheeler, who was the former executive chef at the new Wembley Stadium in London, will oversee the Belfry's 82-strong kitchen brigade and be in charge of its five restaurants and bars including the fine-dining French Restaurant.
He will also oversee all of the property's banqueting facilities and round-the-clock room service.
Wheeler was previously executive sous chef at London's Bluebird before joining department store Harrods as executive chef overseeing 160 chefs at 22 restaurants.
Wheeler said he was thrilled to join the Belfry. "My aim is to introduce an entirely new menu concentrating on modern seasonal dishes and locally-produced ingredients."
