Regent Inns sales slump by 10.9% as talks to sell the business continue

Walkabout operator Regent Inns is still in talks with potential buyers despite seeing sales fall 10.9% this year.

Regent Inns has been up for sale since 15 January and has cited poor like-for-like sales since 2007, which it blamed on the poor summer weather and the absence of a major football tournament.

Discussions with those putting offers on the table are "continuing to progress" the company said today.

Trade continues to be disappointing in its flagship Walkabout but Regent Inns said its Joguleurs comedy club business was trading robustly.

Old Orleans restaurants has demonstrated steadily improving sales since Christmas following refurbishment.

Regent Inns has also reduced its debt by £1.6m to £79m.
