Dean Timpson quits joint venture with Compleat Angler

Chef Dean Timpson has quit his innovative joint-partnership restaurant venture with Macdonald Hotels at the Compleat Angler in Marlow, Buckinghamshire after just over a year, Caterersearch has learnt.

Timpson, who had been executive chef at the hotel since 2001, called time on the venture two months ago after just over 12 months. He is now believed to be abroad.

Dean Timpson at the Compleat Angler was Macdonald's first restaurant joint-partnership venture and saw it form a holding company with the chef.

Macdonald retained a majority share in the business and Timpson kept his existing executive chef salary and entered into a profit-share.

A spokeswoman for Macdonald confirmed the restaurant closure and said the project had come to "a natural conclusion".

The company expects to announce a Michelin-starred chef to take over the site under similar terms later this week.
