Developer to invest £250m in Manchester hotels

A developer in Manchester has announced plans to invest £250m in five hotels in Manchester.

Manchester Evening News reported that the privately owned company West Properties has launched a new hotels division with a view to opening 11 hotels.

The first opening will be within the Origin scheme on Princess Street and talks of a five-star operator are undergoing.

The company also has planning permission for two hotels as part of its Owen street development Vivo, and will include two more in the Ramada site at the end of Deansgate.

Director of the operation Colin Roy said he was looking to explore brands that are not yet in the UK.

He added" Manchester is clearly way ahead in the economic stakes and continues to deliver for the future. We want to provide the types of hotels that will work for the city as it continues to grow.

"With our two residential buildings West has established a reputation for top quality living in Manchester but recognise that delivering a successful hotel is not the same as a successful apartment scheme."
