Does WEEE mean I can't sell my equipment for scrap?
Does WEEE mean I won't be able to sell my old kitchen range for scrap?
The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive is designed to ensure that equipment is recycled or reused wherever possible, rather than ending up as landfill. However, it doesn't stop you from selling it for scrap, provided it's safe for recycling staff to handle. This means it should be either uncontaminated or, if it contains hazardous materials, has been through a decontamination process. If in doubt, check with the manufacturer or your recycler.
