Bar Sport goes into administration

Bar Sport has gone into administration, just three months after unveiling plans to expand to 100 sites in the next five years.

Administrator Butcher Woods confirmed that Bar Sport's sites in Cannock, Walsall, Rugby and Loughborough had been placed into administration last week.

In May, Bar Sport founder Scott Murray disclosed plans to launch Bar Sport franchises in towns across the country, with an offering targeted at customers who "love watching sport, like drinking and eating burgers".

Murray also said that operators who were "serious about sport" would not suffer the same fate as Sports Café, which went into administration in January.

Regents Inns, which operators the sports orientated Walkabout chain, is currently the source of bid speculation following a lacklustre financial performance.
