Barceló signs partnership with Tesco
Barceló Hotels and Resorts UK has become a Tesco Clubcard partner in a bid to generate £1.5 million in new sales.
The partnership means Tesco Clubcard holders can now trade in their points for money-off vouchers for stays at Barceló hotels.
Communications director for Barceló Manju Goel said: "Tesco has one of the most sophisticated client databases with 14 million customers, 1.5 million of whom choose to redeem points as vouchers, rather than money-off their food.
"We're looking to generate an extra 1.5 million in sales through the partnership, following the likes of Marriott and MacDonald hotels which also use similar points schemes."
Goel said that the group, formerly known as Paramount Hotels, is also looking to double its number of hotels in the UK, as well as expanding in Europe with an opening in Cologne Germany, and a further three properties in Turkey.
Barceló currently operates 185 hotels in 15 countries, with 21 UK hotels including the 17th century Lygon Arms in the Cotswolds and Cheshire's Shrigley Hall Hotel.
