Guoman Hotels appoints ex De Vere man to head up London property
Guoman Hotels has appointed Andrew Coney as general manager of The Tower, one of three central London hotels comprising the Guoman Hotels' portfolio.
Coney was previously general manager of De Vere's Slaley Hall, Northumberland.
He started his career with Forte Hotels in Portugal, and quickly assumed management positions with Le Meridien, Posthouse Hotels and Forte Hotels.
He has served as general manager of both the Le Meridien Waldorf and The Cavendish Hotel in central London.
Under his role, Coney will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and commercial activities for The Tower and will report directly to Sanjay Nijhawan, chief operating officer of Guoman Hotels.
Nijhawan said: "Andrew brings a wealth of high-end hospitality experience with major hotel brands. He will be an integral driving force behind the development and refurbishment plans for The Tower. We are very happy to have Andrew on board."
Coney is one of several senior managers to leave hotel group De Vere this year.
