Andaman condemned for ‘alarming prices' and average food

Andaman, the restaurant run by three Michelin-starred chef Dieter Müller at St James hotel in London, has been criticised for "alarming prices" and average food.

Time Out critic Guy Dimond said the wine mark-ups "are particularly cynical" and suggested that diners can get far better food for a lot less in London

The Evening Standard's Chris Blackhurst was underwhelmed by his meal at Brasserie St James in Clapham South, which was about a quarter full when he visited.

"There is something depressing about sitting in the window, watching people scurry home without coming in," he said. "You want the place to be bouncing but it feels forlorn."

Bloomberg food critic Richard Vines was broadly impressed by St Pancras Grand, Searcys 1847's new restaurant at the London terminus, although he warned that it has some work to do to become a destination.
