Latest NewsAbode Hotels launches apprentice scheme(19 September 2008 12:42)Abode Hotels, the boutique hotel group founded by two-Michelin-starred chef Michael Caines and Andrew Brownsword, has launched its first apprentice programme. The Michael Caines Apprenticeship Scheme, which launched last month, will run over two years and give eight students the opportunity to work at Abode’s four hotels in Exeter, Manchester, Canterbury and Glasgow. The apprentices will complete an NVQ Level 2 and 3 in either Food Preparation or Food Service at Manchester’s Trafford College. The scheme is supported by supplier 3663, equipment maker Nisbets and drinks company Grand Marnier, with each of the eight apprentices having received a starter set including knives, cocktail shakers, a waiter’s friend, personalised chef whites, food service uniform and a training folder. During the two years’ employment at the hotel, each of the apprentices will also be invited to attend development days with suppliers who currently work with the hotel. Abode launches barista competition to improve its coffee >>
