Royal Garden hotel team wins Springboard Slingsby Trolley Challenge Cup

The hospitality industry was out in force at London's Westminster Kingsway College last week to participate in the second Springboard Slingsby Trolley Challenge Cup.

The Challenge consisted of 14 teams made up of staff from the capital's hotel, restaurant and catering businesses.

The race featured teams from the Hyatt Regency London-The Churchill; RAC Club; The Sheraton Park Lane; caterer Aramark; The Metropolitan hotel; Millennium Baileys hotel; Wiltons restaurant; Mosimann's London; the Dorchester hotel; Royal Garden hotel; The Goring hotel; Profile Recruitment and Springboard, as well a team of students from Westminster Kingsway College.

Each of the teams steered a decorated trolley, with designs ranging from a pirate theme to a Roman chariot, in a race in Vincent Square started by chef Brian Turner.

Events manager for Springboard Gabrielle Burgath said: "This is the second year of running the Springboard Slingsby Trolley Challenge Cup with Geoff Booth and Westminster Kingsway College and we are glad to be back. We at Springboard really want to raise the profile of the hospitality industry and show the young ones that it is a great place to work."

First place went to team from the Royal Garden hotel and their Hawaiian Bar trolley, with second place awarded to the Millennium Baileys hotel.
