Tampopo expands with three new openings

Manchester-based noodle bar group Tampopo is expanding, with the opening of three new restaurants.

The move comes on the back of the company, which currently operates five outlets in Manchester, Leeds and London, securing £2.2m of funding from the Co-operative Bank.

The new ventures include Tampopo's first restaurant in Bristol, which will open later this month, as well as two more outlets in Manchester including a 195-seat restaurant in the Trafford Centre and a 124-seat restaurant in the city's Triangle.

The expansion funding package is also helping the group to refurbish its flagship and original outlet at Manchester's Albert Square.

Co-owner David Fox said: "The new openings and refurbishment of our original Albert Square restaurant demonstrates the evolution of the brand and heralds the start of a major expansion programme."

Ian Heesom, senior development manager at the Co-operative Bank's South Manchester Corporate Banking Centre, added: "This deal shows that even in today's uncertain economic climate, we are still very much open for business and lending to companies with impressive business strategies."

Tampopo was founded by Fox and business partner Nick Jeffrey in 1997.
