The Emperor of India restaurant in the South Buckinghamshire village of Bourne End has been purchased by London restaurateur Moshen Elawadi.

Elawadi has operated the Ayoush restaurant in London’s St James Street since 1999 and plans to expand its North African concept to his new venue.

The Bourne End restaurant is located on the River Thames in the Chiltern countryside near Marlow and has quick links to the capital.

The substantial detached property in Hedsor Road can seat 110 diners inside and another 30 outdoors. Features include a theatre-style kitchen, a 10-seat reception lounge, and four-bedroom owners’ accommodation

The vendor, Azmal Ali, acquired the property (formerly the Winelands Seafood and Grill) in September 2007. He now wants to focus on his award-winning Emperor of India restaurant in Maidenhead, which serves North Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine.

The Milton Keynes office of Christie + Co sold the leasehold off a guide price of £198,500. The restaurant is held on the residue of a 30-year lease from Enterprise Inns.
