Latest NewsRiver Café continues to wow and Jamie Oliver is good for the high street(13 October 2008 11:01)The Daily Telegraph’s Jasper Gerard visits the reopened River Café, Rose Gray and Ruth Rogers' London restaurant that brought us Jamie Oliver, and suggests rarely can such a large eaterie have maintained such “incredible standards”. Jay Rayner, writing in the Observer, thinks Jamie’s Italian will make the high street a far tastier place. Jan Moir from Are You Ready to Order? Thinks the concept governing the new Le Bouchon Breton in London’s Spitalfields is perfect for the capital – that of a large unpretentious, open all hours brasserie – and is initially impressed. However, the critic finds the food at the new venture, which counts Michel Roux Jr. as consultant, “terrible”. Andaman by Michelin starred chef Dieter Müller is “a restaurant in only the barest technical sense” according to Matthew Norman. The Guardian critic finds the restaurant at the relaunched St James’s hotel and club in London “very average” given Müller’s pedigree. Article continues below
