New site for Carluccio's in London's Earlsfield

Italian restaurant chain Carluccio's has purchased the site of the former Box bar in Earlsfield, London.

The Box bar was previously run by Garry Mallen, who operates nine bars and pubs across the capital.

Mallen's sites include the Lockside Lounge in Camden Lock, Bar Lorca in Bexley and Tufnell Park and other branded bars in Wimbledon, Beckenham and the East End.

Proceeds from the sale of the Box bar will be used for refurbishment, starting with Mallen's Oak in Bromley, Kent.

Rob Meadows of property agent Davis Coffer Lyons (DCL) acted for Mallen on the deal.

Meadows said that Earlsfield had undergone a transformation over the last couple of years, and was "attracting a more affluent crowd" due to its location between Wimbledon and Clapham.
