Macclesfield hotel sells off £3.1m guide price

Hollin Hall hotel, a three-star country house hotel near Macclesfield in Cheshire, has been sold off a £3.1m asking price.

The Grade II-listed hotel was built in the 1870s by local cotton manufacturer Joseph Brooke as a family home and was converted into a hotel in the 1970s.

It occupies four acres of land in the village of Kerridge in a Cheshire conservation area on the edge of the Peak District. It is just half an hour's drive from Manchester.

Along with 58 en-suite bedrooms to sleep 114 guests, Hollin Hall offers a lounge and bar, the 70-seat Orangery restaurant in a conservatory building and four function/meeting rooms to accommodate 120, 80, 25 and 12 guests.

In 2007, the business made adjusted trading profits of £335,001 on a net turnover of £1,383,120.

The new owner is Yorkshire-based Clayton Hotels, a sister company to residential developer Clayton Homes.

"I formed Clayton Hotels to provide people with the ultimate country house experience and Hollin Hall will enable us to set those standards," said Kris Clayton, chairman of both companies.

The Manchester office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold on behalf of family-owned and family-run Southeath Hotels.
