Tom Aikens restaurant under new ownership after being put into administration

Michelin-starred chef Tom Aikens's London restaurants have been acquired by a management buy-out (MBO) team after being put into administration.

Tom's Kitchen and the eponymous Tom Aikens in London's Chelsea have been acquired by TA Holdco Ltd, Caterersearch has been told.

The MBO was funded by a private investor after TA Ltd (the company name for Tom Aikens Restaurant) and T&A Ltd (the company name for Tom's Kitchen) went into administration on Friday.

Both restaurants are said to be trading normally.

Aikens's array of small suppliers are now fearful that they will be out of pocket following the company's collapse into administration, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Aikens had been planning a second Tom's Kitchen in London's financial district in Canary Wharf, although it is unknown if the opening will now take place.

In August Tom Aikens was forced to close his eco-friendly chip shop Tom's Place, after a series of complaints from residents about the smell of chip fat from the eaterie.
