Nottingham's Lord Nelson impresses the critics, as does London's Giaconda Dining Room

Terry Durrack has written a positive review of the Lord Nelson in Nottingham, which is part of the Moleface Pub Company. The Independent critic finds the "pub gets a lot of things right" and describes it as generous, hospitable and although not perfect, able to be easily fixed.

Meanwhile Times critic Giles Coren finds his local The Bull and Last in North-west London to still be very much a pub despite its new owners but the food now on offer to be "fascinating", "rare and thrilling" and "just blinding".

The Guardian's Matthew Norman declares the capital's Giaconda Dining Room to be the most impressive new restaurant he's seen in ages.
