Colombian announced as new InterContinental Park Lane general manager
The InterContinental London Park Lane hotel has appointed a new general manager, following the departure of Roland Fasel earlier this year.
Colombian national Alvaro Rey will take over the position on 12 January 2009, joining the company from IHG in Australia, where he has been general manager of the InterContinental Sydney since November 2006.
The Park Lane position was vacated in September by Roland Fasel who joined the Dorchester hotel after four years at the Intercontinental. Simon Scoot, the Hotel Manager has been covering the role in the interim.
An industry veteran, Alvaro started his career with IHG 25 years ago as assistant food and beverage manager at InterContinental Medellín in Colombia.
Having worked for InterContinental in Venezuela and Jordan, he took on his first general manager role in 1994 at Las Lomas Forum Medellín in Colombia.
Rey has also worked as general manager roles at the InterContinental Cali in Colombia, InterContinental São Paulo in Brazil and InterContinental Buenos Aires in Argentina.
Alvaro graduated from the Les Roches hotel school in Switzerland and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
