Luxury yacht hotel planned for Thames Quay
A luxury hotel aboard a yacht is scheduled to open near London's Canary Wharf.
The 170-metre Thames Quay 158-room hotel will also house meeting rooms, an on-board ballroom, a spa, gym and pool, a private business club, and a celebrity chef restaurant and bar at on its top deck.
The yacht hotel will be permanently moored in Thames Quay in the West India Docks and adjacent to the Canary Wharf business district, across the water from the planned Wood Wharf redevelopment.
The proposals for Thames Quay in West India Dock were put forward by the Dubai-based developer, Aquiva, and the project is now set to go before the Greater London Authority for final approval.
A water shuttle service will carry Aquiva's guests from the West India dockside by Canary Wharf and Wood Wharf to the yacht.
It is hoped that the floating hotel, which will sit 23m (75ft) above the waterline, will be in place in time for the London 2012 Olympics.
