Starboard Hotels plans new Holiday Inn Express in Burnley

Starboard Hotels has launched a £7m project, to build the first new hotel in Burnley for nine years as part of its wider expansion strategy in the North West.

The 102-bedroom hotel will be franchised by Holiday Inn Express and will also feature free wireless internet access throughout, full air conditioning, complimentary continental breakfast for guests and en-suite bathrooms and conference facilities.

The hotel is the only Holiday Inn Express for 40 miles, the nearest in Manchester, and one of the first to have been fully re-branded from the former Holiday Inn design.

Philip Houghton operations director for Starboard Hotels said: "Holiday Inn Express is an instantly recognisable, global brand and we are proud to be working with InterContinental Hotel Group on this venture.

London-based Starboard Hotels is run by Paul and Philip Houghton, together with financial director Stephen Carter.
