Olive Catering Services wins Heinz deal

Midlands firm Olive Catering Services has ventured south for the first time with a £1.75m deal to feed staff at food manufacturer Heinz's head office in Hayes, Middlesex.

Olive, which takes over from Elior's Avenance next Monday (1 December), will provide staff catering, including restaurant and coffee shop; vending and hospitality at the site in a five-year deal worth £350,000 in annual turnover.

Describing the opportunity to take on its first contract in the south with Heinz as "too good to miss", Olive director Damon Brown said that although the company had no plans to head into central London, there was a "lot of business" in and around the M25 to be had.

The caterer, which was set up in 2004, expanded its operations into the North of England at the start of 2008 with a deal to caterer for staff at SSL.

Brown said the strategy had paid off with contract wins in Liverpool, Leeds, Wrexham and two more in Manchester since, which have boosted Olive's annual turnover by £850,000 to £9m for 2008.

Olive currently has 75 contracts.
