Marina O’Loughlin laments the interior, service and food at the Gordon Ramsay Holdings-owned restaurant and says that “some of the joy seems to have been processed out of the cooking”. “Perhaps [it’s] because the chef herself isn't always in the kitchen and, her creations have to be perfected by her myrmidons,” she wonders. Meanwhile, Chris Moss from Time Out is excited about north London Argentinean restaurant Garufa. “With its old tangos playing quietly in the background and live folk gigs scheduled between now and Christmas – and likeable, relaxed waiting staff – Garufa has all the personality that the branches of Gaucho lack,” he says.
