Gary Rhodes plans worldwide restaurant expansion
Chef-restaurateur and TV presenter Gary Rhodes looks set to expand his restaurant empire in to America, Asia and the Far East, Caterersearch can reveal.
Rhodes confirmed that he has received proposals from hotels in New York, New Delhi and Beijing, but declined to reveal who the operators were at this early stage of discussions.
Rhodes said: "I have to be 100% convinced about anything and at the end of the day these proposals] might never materialise. There's a danger of doing too much in one go."
Rhodes currently has 10 restaurants to his name, including two London eateries with Michelin stars (Rhodes Twenty-Four and Rhodes W1), which he operates as a joint venture with Restaurant Associates, part of contract catering giant Compass Group.
He also has three restaurants outside of the UK: in Dublin, Dubai and in the Caribbean island of Grenada.
His most recent restaurant launches are two restaurants in Christchurch, Dorset, called Kings Rhodes and Rhodes South, which launched in August and November of this year.
They are a joint venture with Dorset hotelier and businessman Nicolas Roach and, if successful, Rhodes South will be rolled out as a brand in other south coast hotels owned by Roach.
Rhodes said: "These are my priority right now and I'm excited we'll be spreading them further a field."
