Restaurant group Bistrot Pierre to expand despite UK recession
Midlands-based restaurant operator Bistrot Pierre plans to expand next year despite the looming recession.
The company, which currently operates restaurants in Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Leamington Spa, earlier this month opened its sixth outlet at Macdonald Hotels and Resorts' Swan's Nest hotel in Stratford Upon Avon.
The 80-seat restaurant, which serves a menu of classic French dishes, is the group's first hotel-based outlet.
It will undergo an extension programme in the New Year to add a 40-cover outside dining area.
Ajay Barak, executive development chef at Bistrot Pierre, told Caterersearch the group was excited to have launched its first hotel-based restaurant.
"Depending on how this one pans out, we would like to do more of this," he said.
Barak, one of this year's Acorn award winners, added that Bistrot Pierre plans to open up to further restaurants next year in the Midlands area, with the first set to open in Sheffield in January. The 140-seat restaurant will be located in a new development on the city's Ecclesall Road.
"This year has turned out well for us despite all the bad news in the market," Barak said. "We have a few more restaurants in the pipeline and if all goes well are hoping to launch up to three new outlets in 2009."
