Booker, the food and drink wholesaler, is helping operators to beat the credit crunch by offering three classic pub meals to sell for just £2.50 each.

Publicans can make over 100% mark up on popular pub favourites such as scampi, chips and peas; steak, chips and mushrooms and pies, each with a cost price of under £1.22.

The company is also promoting selected drinks lines including bottled beers, mixed drinks and wines to sell at £2 each, offering a similar mark up for operators.

“We understand that pubs are operating in a tough market so we have created these solutions to help them beat the credit crunch,” said Ron Hickey, director of catering development.  “The consumer still loves to eat out at their local pub, however we realise that money is tight.  The independent publican can sell great British pub favourites for just £2.50 each and a drink for just £2.  It gives the local pub a real chance to compete with the high street chains.”
