Hilton and Millennium announce new hotels in Liverpool
Hilton Hotels has signed a franchise licence agreement with Peel Holdings (Leisure) to open a Hampton by Hilton hotel at Liverpool's John Lennon Airport.
The 160-bedroom hotel, located at the airport terminal, is scheduled to open this summer.
It will be the third of Hilton's new hotel in Liverpool, with both Hilton Liverpool (2009) and Hampton by Hilton Liverpool City (2010) currently under construction.
Hampton by Hilton is the company's budget brand, and it will debut in the UK in Corby in spring 2009, with two more planned in Derby and Leeds.
Phil Cordell, senior vice president of brand management for Hampton, said: "Hampton by Hilton is an exceptional product which is set to transform the UK's economy hotel sector and fill a gap at its upper end. The international expansion of the brand continues at a pace and we are delighted to be building our presence in a destination like Liverpool."
Hotel group Millennium & Copthorne Hotels has also completed a deal to open two new hotels in Liverpool's £160m Central Village development.
The Copthorne Hotel Liverpool will face onto Newington Square and the Boardwalk public spaces. The 4-star deluxe Millennium Hotel Liverpool will be created in the refurbished and extended grade-2 listed Watson Building adjacent to the Lewis's building.
Both hotels are scheduled to open in 2012 and create more than 200 new jobs in the city.
