Searcys 1847 to end relationship with Mercedes-Benz World
Searcys 1847 is to end its relationship with visitor attraction Mercedes-Benz World (MBW) in Surrey, the upmarket caterer has announced.
MBW is currently in negotiations to find a new caterer at the Weybridge site, which incorporates the historic Brooklands racing circuit.
Searcys, which has run a public restaurant at MBW since May 2006, is not taking part in the new tender after the client signaled its desire to "shift the contract away from a management fee to a commercial business".
Duncan Ackery, chief executive of Searcys, said: "We have enjoyed building the business with MBW but have to take a prudent approach to our planning in the current climate.
"As such, we have chosen not to progress the existing partnership with MBW. We wish them well in the next phase of their business."
Peter O'Halloran, managing director of Mercedes-Benz World, said: "We put the Mercedes-Benz World catering contract out to tender in line with our future business objectives. We will be announcing exciting new plans shortly."
