IHG opens first Indigo hotel in London
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened its first Indigo hotel in the UK and is planning to add three more properties under the boutique brand by 2012, all in London.
IHG chief executive Andy Cosslett revealed the plans at the official opening of the Indigo in Paddington yesterday.
He said there will be two new properties in the City of London: a 38-room townhouse conversion on Cannon Street and a 43-room hotel on Philpot Lane, and a 51-room hotel on Kensington Church Street.
The hotels are owned by Scottish property development company City Site Estates, which has two Holiday Inn Express hotels in Ayr and Dundee.
The 64-room Hotel Indigo London Paddington, owned by London Town hotels, is a conversion of nine converted Georgian townhouses in London Street, just outside Paddington Station.
It is the first Indigo to open outside North America, where there are already 21 properties.
