Mandarin Oriental appoints new operations director for Europe
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has appointed Christoph Mares as its operations director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) following the resignation of Liam Lambert.
Mares rejoins Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group from his current position of chief operating officer at the Dubai-based Emaar Hospitality Group just seven months after leaving his role as general manager of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park.
The hotelier joined Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in 2000, subsequently holding senior management positions within the group's portfolio of hotels in London, Paris and Munich, before leaving in 2008.
In his new role as operations director, he will be responsible for overseeing global food and beverage operations and will report directly to Edouard Ettedgui, chief executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
Ettedgui said: "On behalf of my colleagues, I would like to thank Liam Lambert for his significant contribution to the development of Mandarin Oriental during his 18 years with the group.
"At the same time, I am delighted to welcome back Christoph Mares to the group. He will provide excellent direction for our future growth in this region and our colleagues look forward to working with Christoph in his new role."
