Historic Oxfordshire hotel sold off £2.5m guide price

Wroxton House hotel, an historic property that dates back to 1654, has been sold off a guide price of £2.5m.

It lies near the thatched Oxfordshire village of Wroxton in a conservation area on the county border with Gloucestershire. The hotel is just four miles from the M40 and is near Banbury train station, where services run regularly to London and Birmingham.

The hotel offers 32 en-suite bedrooms, with the potential to add another 18 subject to planning permission.

Other facilities include a 40-seat restaurant that has recently been awarded an AA rosette, a 40-seat bar, a buffet room to seat another 25 customers, and two function rooms to seat 60 and 45 guests respectively.

The grounds incorporate landscaped gardens and a conservatory, and guests can also walk in the extensive grounds of nearby Wroxton Abbey, a Jacobean mansion that once was the home of Lord North, the Prime Minister to King George III.

The hotel team at Knight Frank sold the hotel to new owners John and Gill Smith.
