Green's expansion kicks off with City restaurant

London restaurant and oyster bar Green's is to launch a sister venue in the City this summer, with more sites planned across the UK in the coming years.

Proprietor Simon Parker Bowles has teamed up with former De Vere chairman Lord Daresbury and erstwhile Vestey Group chairman Lord Vestey to open the first new venture in June.

Housed in a listed 17th century building on Cornhill, which was once the head quarters of Lloyds Bank London, the site is currently undergoing a £2m refurbishment programme.

It will include a mezzanine dining room with banquettes seating up to 110 diners as well as two private dining rooms, a whisky room, Champagne room and a downstairs bar catering for events for up to 300 people.

The food offer will be similar to the original Green's restaurant in St James's, with the seasonal British menu featuring signature dishes such as Dorset crab salad and haddock Parker Bowles. The head chef and restaurant manager have not yet been appointed.

Parker Bowles told Caterersearch that while now wasn't the best time to be launching a restaurant in the City, he felt positive that Green's would be a success.

"The restaurant will primarily be aimed at City workers and will be open from breakfast through to dinner during the week, with weekends geared towards private functions and weddings," he said.

While further outlets are in the pipeline, no specific locations have been earmarked yet.
