Michael Caines aims for 10 restaurants by 2012
Michael Caines hopes to have at least 10 signature restaurants in the UK by the time of the 2012 Olympics, the two Michelin starred chef revealed in an interview in Caterer this week.
Caines, who already heads up the kitchen at Gidleigh Park as well as overseeing signature restaurants at four Abode Hotels, relaunched the restaurant at the Bath Priory earlier this week, taking his eponymous restaurant total to six. Two further Abodes in Salisbury and Chester are planned for the next 18 months, both to include Michael Caines Restaurants, with a further 10 planned in the next decade by Caines and his business partner Andrew Brownsword.
"Food is my business, creating good food," said Caines. "But there's no chance of taking good food to more than a few people unless you have a solid business platform to do it on."
