Cleaners take Beatles-themed hotel to court
The Beatles-themed Hard Days Night hotel in Liverpool is on course for a legal dust up with its cleaners at London's High Court.
WGC, which carried out cleaning services at the 110-bed hotel, accuses the hotel of failing to pay more than £87,000 for cleaning services.
The Hard Days Night Hotel opened in February 2008 after a £20m transformation from a listed 19th century office block into a luxury four-star hotel, with an original painting of the Beatles in each of the bedrooms.
In a writ issued at London's High Court and just made publicly available, WGC claims that it agreed to provide the hotel with cleaners at a cost of £7.70 per person hour, as well as a monthly management fee of £3,900.
WGC managing director Martin Birch and the Trevor Lyn, former general manager at the hotel, also agreed that from June 2008, cleaning charges for public areas would be £10.59 an hour, the writ says.
But WGC accuses the hotel of failing to pay its invoices from September 25 and November 30 2008, totalling £87,472.82, and is demanding payment, as well as late payment charges of £1,010 and interest of £2,096.04, and interest running at £23.96 a day.
