Promotions help keep Carluccio's buoyant

A series of promotions have kept cash-strapped consumers visiting Carluccio's Caffes, the restaurant company said today in a trading statement.

In the 26 weeks to 29 March 2009, turnover was 14% ahead compared with the same period last year thanks to promotions run during January and February.

Carluccio's first store in the Middle East opened in Dubai during March 2009, and the company added it was encouraged by the early customer response.

Leicester, Bristol and Earlsfield, South West London also opened and Carluccio's now has 42 locations in the UK and abroad.

With a caffe spend per head of £12, Carluccio's said this and the "inherent strength" of its business, boded well for its performance in what are tough economic times.
