Contract caterers have been caught up in the G20 protests in central London.

Both an RBS branch in the City and the Bank of England, which is run by Compass Group, are reported to have come under attack by anti capitalist protesters.

Lexington, which counts investment bank Schroders in the City as a client and has offices in central London, said many clients were in lockdown.

Mike Sunley, chief executive of Lexington, told Caterersearch: “At the end of our road the police are bashing protesters who are throwing bottles. It is far from calm.

“We are on Cannon Street about 5 minutes from the Bank of England but have a view from the roof up to The Guildhall. The helicopters are buzzing all around us and sirens going off. Apparently over on Bishopsgate however hippies are dancing in the street.”

Meanwhile Jamie Oliver, who will be cooking a dinner at Downing Street for the heads of state attending the G20, including Barrack Obama, is updating his fans on his preparations on Twitter and his blog.
