One&Only Resort launch marks first Ramsay restaurant in Africa
The One & Only Resort in Cape Town, home to Gordon Ramsay's first restaurant venture in Africa, opens today (3 April), one month ahead of schedule.
Launched by hotel magnet Sol Kerzner, the opening party, which took place last night, was attended by celebrities including former South African president Nelson Mandela and Hollywood actors including Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon.
The 131-key One & Only Resort, located at Cape Town's Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, comprises a seven-storey hotel building as well as a range of one and two-bedroom villas.
It includes a spa with nine treatment suites as well as a fitness centre and swimming pool, while meeting and banqueting facilities cater for up to 200 people.
The resort, which offers the largest wine list in Africa at 4,500 bins, features five dining outlets including the first African outlets of Japanese restaurant group Nobu and Gordon Ramsay Holdings' Maze.
General manager Gérard Sintès said: "They are both internationally acclaimed restaurant groups and it's fantastic that they are launching their first African ventures at the One & Only resort in Cape Town."
