Compass Group wins £40m deal with Goodwood Estate
Compass Group has retained its hospitality and retail contract at the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex in a deal worth around £40m in total turnover.
The seven-year contract, first revealed last year on Kitchen Rat, is worth £6.5m in turnover in year one, growing to £9m in turnover by the final year of the contract.
Compass will supply hospitality and retail services at the 23 race days held at the estate's racecourse, including ‘Glorious Goodwood'.
The caterer will also be present at Goodwood's two main motoring events, Festival of Speed and Revival, which attract more than 500,000 visitors each year.
Compass has held the contract at Goodwood for more than 20 years and signed a one-year extension in November 2007 before landing its new deal.
Samantha Axtell, chief operating officer at Goodwood Estate Company, said: "Compass is the right partner for Goodwood. The team knows our business well and has worked closely with us to understand our customers.
"Their track record in delivering quality food with excellent service at large events was critical to our decision making."
As part of the contract, Compass is investing £1.5m to refurbish the kitchens, install a central production unit (which will also produce Goodwood Estate organic products) and improve the retail offer.
