York pubs and clubs join hunt for missing chef

Pubs and clubs in York are to join the search for missing chef Claudia Lawrence by carrying pictures of her on table-top boxes used for discarded crisp packets and chewing gum.

Peter Lawrence, the father of the university chef who has now been missing for four weeks, will today unveil the specially designed Filpot, which normally carried adverts.

Manufacturers have developed 350 Filpots with images of Lawrence and appeals for information on her whereabouts.

Lawrence was last seen on 18 March after leaving the University of York's Goodricke College where she worked as a chef.

Detective Superintendent Ray Galloway, who is leading the investigation, said he feared she may have "come to harm" after meeting somebody she knew.
