Harrison Catering wins new Lambeth school meals deal

Harrison Catering Services has won a new five-year contract to provide school meals in London's Lambeth.

The caterer will continue to provide services to 63 primary and special schools in the south London borough.

Since signing its initial deal in 2004, which was worth more than £3m in total turnover, the caterer is credited with increasing take-up from 53% to 70%.

The national average for primary schools in England is 43.6%.

Councillor Paul McGlone, cabinet member for children at Lambeth, said: "Harrison Catering and Lambeth have a great track record of providing nutritious school meals and I'm delighted that they have been awarded a new contract."

Nicola Turk, who manages the school meals contract on behalf of Harrison's, added the new deal would allow the company to develop a meal service that offered an even greater choice for each school.

The caterer currently runs school meals contracts in the London boroughs of Lambeth, Ealing, Wandsworth and Bexley, feeding 80,000 school children a day.
