Sodexo gains Marine Stewardship Council accreditation for school meals
Sodexo has become the first school meals provider to achieve Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification across multiple school contracts in England and Wales.
The caterer celebrated accreditation by launching a new eco-labelled menu at Southbroom Junior School in Devizes, Wiltshire, to help pupils make more environmentally friendly choices.
The MSC certified menu features the organisation's blue fish-tick logo, which assures customers that the fish can be traced back to sustainable stocks.
Jane Bristow, managing director of Sodexo Education, said: "MSC certification will visibly highlight our commitment to supporting healthy marine life and stress to pupils, parents and teachers the importance of choosing environmentally friendly options."
Last year Sodexo rival Compass Group became the first European caterer to gain MSC certification.
