Ego restaurant group to open five new sites

Ego plans to open five new restaurants this year taking the chain into double figures, despite the tough economic climate.

The group, which opened its first restaurant in the Wirral in May 1999, was taken over in a management buyout lead by James Horler last year.

Ego, which currently has nine sites, will open restaurants in Sheffield and Lytham, Lancashire, in July and three more, at as yet unnamed locations, in October.

Executive chairman Horler said he was undeterred by the recession and remained confident that the group's "value for money" offer and fresh Mediterranean food would allow it to push on.
