Hospital Caterers Association names Kevan Wallace as new chairman

Kevan Wallace has become chairman of the Hospital Caterers Association (HCA), replacing Neil Watson-Jones who has now completed his two-year term of office.

Wallace joined the HCA in June 1999 and, after playing an active part in the South West Thames Branch of the organisation, became branch chairman. In 2007, he was elected as HCA vice chairman.

He is currently assistant hotel services manager for catering at Frimley Park NHS Foundation Trust in Surrey, and has spent 39 years in the hospitality sector.

Wallace said: "I am a great believer in the best possible food for patients as part of their care programme.

"The Better Hospital Food programme raised the public's awareness of the importance of hospital meals and its contribution to patient recovery. We still have much to do to improve patient nutrition and to tackle the still unacceptable levels of malnutrition particularly amongst elderly patients."

Baroness Rennie Fritchie has been elected as the new president of the HCA. She replaces Lady Caroline Waldegrave.
