Shearings plans standalone hotel brand

Tour operator Shearings Group is to launch a standalone hotel division as part of a business shake-up.

Vince Flower, chief operating officer at Shearings has been appointed as managing director of hotels, and is tasked with developing a new standalone brand to operate alongside the recently introduced Coast & Country hotels.

Shearings chief executive Denis Wormwell said Flower had "long been associated with the success of Shearings hotels and will use his expertise to build a more commercially independent and consumer facing leisure hotels business".

Shearings has also formed a holiday division, which is headed by managing director Graham Rogers who was previously director of national holidays at the firm.

Both Flower and Rogers will have positions on the Shearings group board, alongside Wormwell, group finace director David Newbold and group HR director Jane Burke.

Shearings Group recently invested more than £7m in upgrading 13 hotels to its new Coast & Country standard, creating almost 200 premier and superior bedrooms in its 49 hotel estate.
