Simon Hulstone to cook for Princess Anne
Simon Hulstone, chef proprietor of the Michelin-starred Elephant restaurant in Torquay, Devon, and the current holder of the Knorr National Chef of the Year title, is to cook a lunch for Her Royal Highness Princess Anne next week.
Hulstone, who this year represented the UK at the Bocuse d'Or, will recreate the dishes he prepared at the culinary competition in Lyon, France, in January.
The dishes comprised a fish course of loin of cod with Scottish smoked salmon and coral mousse; scallops; crisp wrapped cod; and a cream of mussel and fennel with caviar and chives.
His main course was a take on beef Wellington - fillet of beef inside a cylinder of puff pastry stuffed with braised oxtail and cheek, topped with a truffle mousse and served with a mini roasted rib and Yorkshire puddings.
The lunch, which is being hosted by Quality Meat Scotland, will take place at London's Butcher's Hall on Monday (18 May).
Hulstone said: "Not every chef gets the chance to cook for Royalty so I'm delighted to be given the honour. Along with Her Royal Highness, we will also be cooking for an impressive list of chefs, so it will be an unforgettable experience for myself and my team."
