Compass creates three ‘centres of excellence'
Compass Group has made three of its business and industry contracts "centres of excellence" in a bid to showcase the best of its workplace catering offer.
The contracts at Procter & Gamble in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, the Vodafone head office in Newbury and Simons Construction in Lincoln will champion the excellence programme, which focuses on food quality and presentation improvement, food cost control, promotions and purchasing compliance.
The contracts, held by Compass's Eurest Services division, will be used as a model for others to follow and the scheme is expected to be extended, a company spokeswoman said.
As part of the initiative, Procter & Gamble has introduced new elements to its breakfast and lunch services, including a daily live chef's theatre and food sampling. The aim is to give employees the chance to try new meals and choose from a wide range of fresh and healthy foods without leaving the office.
Graham Sims, managing director of Eurest Services, said: "Centres for excellence demonstrate what all caterers should strive for, particularly in times of recession where employees are looking for healthy meals on a budget. Good workplace catering will mean that employees will not have to and will not want to go elsewhere."
