Critic finds prices at Eastside Inn extortionate

Eastside Inn, the new City-based venture from former Gordon Ramsay Holdings chef Bjorn van der Horst scores highly on food but is priced extortionately, says Time Out's Guy Dimond.

The Metro's Marina O'Loughlin is impressed with the passion on show at 500 in Holloway Road.

"The co-owners have worked with some big foodie names - Gennaro Contaldo and St Jamie - and the passion is evident," she writes. "This is city centre cooking at suburban prices, a rare combination."

Bloomberg food critic Richard Vines admits the brunch at Hélène Darroze at the Connaught might sound pricey - even to an MP on expenses - but insists it is good value compared the to lunch menu.

"It's still far from my favourite restaurant in London, and the weekday three-course lunch, at £32, isn't exactly a bargain," he writes. "The brunch, by contrast, is such good value you could enjoy it every week and still afford to clean your own moat."
